Sculptured Blooms - Art in the Park

Photo thanks to Claudia Snell

As many Worcesterites know, Art in the Park 2009 has officially opened at Worcester's Elm Park. There are 20 large scale sculptures in a juried exhibition all around the park. More info here.

But what most Worcesterites don't know, because there has been zero publicity, is that there will also be a judged exhibition of large scale floral pieces in conjunction with Art in the Park. This event, Sculptured Blooms, takes place Saturday, 15 August, from 8:00am - 7:00pm.

I know some of the floral designers participating in this, and they are first rate, so you can expect to see some very interesting stuff. One of the interpreted sculptures is an old VW bus redesigned as a toaster - can you imagine what a florist would do with that?! If you get there nice and early, you should be able to speak with the designers while they are under construction.

And before you ask, no, Sprout is unable to participate in this as we are booked solid with events that day. :-( Maybe next year...

So get out, enjoy Art in the Park while it is here, but please make the extra effort to see Sculptured Blooms on Saturday! Show Worcester some floral-love!
